Living through my children

Anyone that knows me will say that I love football.

It is a bit of an obsession. Mrs Jamie’s cousin’s son plays football for Ryhill U9’s and there was an opportunity to watch them. I went. On a side note, I was surprised how mad parents can be when they watch their children play.

Chap in my office’s son plays for Hemsworth Miners (we’re planning on going to watch them play).

Been to see Farsley Celtic recently as well in the 6th Tier.

See Wimbledon play at any opportunity.

Friend supports Huddersfield so go along whenever I can there when there is a spare ticket.

I would have loved to have been a footballer.

Chap who’s son plays for Hemsworth miners has told me there is a massive demand for goalkeepers out there under the age of 16 (he used to be a coach). As long as they are decent and over 6ft tall.

The criteria for one particular club in Yorkshire is;
1)    Are they 6ft?
2)    Under the age of 16
3)    Can they run 100m in less than 11 seconds?

If all of these are met, your footballing ability doesn’t really matter as you can be taught that. This is for any position.

Now, unfortunately I’m not going to become a footballer now despite my best efforts to encourage Wimbledon (particularly with the criteria above) to sign me as replacement for one of their ageing Centre Backs.

I think I’m going to have to give this dream up.

So, I’m going to have to live my life vicariously through my son and when she is born my daughter and looking at the fact that goalkeepers are in high demand I’ve seen an opportunity come up.

Now Mrs Jamie is a fairly lofty 5ft11 and I am 6ft2.

So I’m hoping that they will both be taller than me and can play in the Premier League and WSL for Wimbledon and England as goalkeepers.

Not too much to hope for is it?
